(More customer reviews)I sincerely wanted to enjoy this product. Learning the antioxidant benefits of Pomegranate I was excited about finding a nutritious organic healthy shake. Hoping to have this shake as part of my daily nutritious routine I was disappointed when I first tried it. The gritty consistency makes it a little difficult to enjoy this as a drink every morning. I want to try to develop a taste for this nutritious healthy drink so I will continue to include this shake mix as part of my diet routine by consuming one every few days. Maybe an acquired taste is necessary for this product{?}

(More customer reviews)tasty but not the best drink. the chocolate flavor is strong but more like carob than chocolate.the powder is hard to get to dissolve by stirring, however putting it through the vita-mix gets it pretty smooth! I am happy to support a company out of sebastopol, ca and to get added nutrients in my shakes but this recipe could be tuned up to make it work out properly.

I was looking for a non-soy non-dairy protein supplement as I wasn't getting enough protein in my diet.I was also interested in getting more fiber.I saw the Nutiva powders on Amazon and thought for sure I would love the berry pomegranate flavor and almost bought it.Then I saw this sample pack.When I went through the different powders I learned that while the berry/pom flavor is ok, I prefer the chocolate a lot more.Having the different bars has also been great because it has allowed me to see how sweet they are, how filling etc so I could make a better decision about which one I wanted to buy in a larger quantity.I haven't baked with the ground hemp seeds yet, but we'll see how that goes over probably next week.

1 gramSplenda (1 packet) Protein is one of the three "macronutrients" in the human diet. (The other two are fats and carbohydrates.) One major point of difference that sets proteins apart from the other macronutrients is that our bodies cannot completely synthesize proteins. In other words, we need to get proteins from our diet. Proteins are responsible for a long list and wide variety of essential functions in our bodies including the growth and maintenance of muscle, bones, cartilage, hair, skin, and nails. Proteins are also needed to make certain enzymes, hormones and blood. Proteins also help enhance immune function.
One exciting benefit of dietary protein is that it increases feelings of fullness (satiety) when compared to equal amounts of carbohydrates and fats. The Soy Health Claim
In October 1999, FDA approved a health claim that can be used on labels of soy-based foods to tout their heart-healthy benefits. The agency reviewed research from 27 studies that showed soy protein's value in lowering levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "Bad" cholesterol).
Food markets can now use the following claim, or a reasonable variation, on their products:
"Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 25 grams of soy protein a day may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of APC Whey/Soy Protein provides 6.25 grams of soy protein (APC Whey/Soy Protein contains a total of 25 grams of protein per serving coming from the combination of Whey/Soy Protein)"
To qualify for the claim foods must contain per serving:
- 6.25 grams of soy protein
- Low fat (less than 3 grams)
- Law saturated fat (less than 1 gram)
- Low cholesterol (less than 20 milligrams)
- Sodium value of less than 480 milligrams for individual foods, less than 720 milligrams if considered a main dish, and less than 960 milligrams if considered a meal.

(More customer reviews)We figured hemp protein powder is hemp protein powder.But we did see another review that said Ruth's tasted better and had a nicer consistency to it.It was at a reasonably good price, so we got some when we got low on our previous brand.Ruth's hemp protein powder really does taste better than our previous brand, and is much more subtle in fruit shakes than the other.This is a very good product and as a result we've switched brands to this one now - what else can I say?!

(More customer reviews)I've tried all kinds of hemp powders and this is my favorite.Hemp is a super source of EFA's and the protein is a highly available type due to the amount of different amino acids. It is good for those with animal milk allergies or who are concerned about cruelty to farm animals.And it is also good for those of us who need to avoid the estrogenic properties of ingesting too many soy products.
Great, so it's healthy, but how does it taste?Well, this hempshake is amazing -- the taste is really great.I particularly like the chocolate.And I'm impressed that although it tastes a 1000 times better than plain hemp powder, it only contains 80 calories and 7 grams of sugar.
As for digestibility, they do add inulin, which is good for the gut, and I don't have any problem with it.However, the high amount of fiber might present a problem for those coming straight from a SAD (standard American diet), so you might want to begin slow with a small drink and work up to the full dose.
In fact, I'm drinking a Nutiva Hempshake smoothie right now for my breakfast.It contains hempmilk (natch), choco hempshake, cayenne, cinnamon, and frozen berries.It is awesome.
