(More customer reviews)I have tried many different protein supplements over the years and Nitro-tech is the best that I have used, by far. I noticed that several people have complained about the taste and that it is undrinkable. That is nonsense. It goes down very smoothly and has never felt heavy in my stomach, and there is no aftertaste. The serving size is one scoop which I typically mix with 8-10 ounces of water. It is not thick at all, or the least bit chalky. The directions say 4-8 ounces of water. If you are using 4 ounces and find it too thick, add more water. Simple. The extra water sure isn't going to hurt you.
I don't understand people complaining about the taste. I'm not going to say it tastes great, but it does not taste bad at all. I guess I would consider the taste mild. Maybe some people expect it to taste sweet like a milk shake. Better taste comes at a cost, and that cost is calories. I have tried some proteins supplements that tasted great, only to find out it took 5x the calories to get the same amount of protein. Definitely not worth it. Seriously 500 calories vs 100 calories. That was ridiculous. This protein is streamlined to give you the most benefit in the fewest calories. The taste is pleasant, but it's not something that I would sit around sipping on. You need to think about why you are taking it. I'm guessing results. If you are looking for a refreshing, tasty drink, there are better options. If you are looking for an great protein supplement you would be hard pressed to find a better one.
Here are some suggestions if you find it to chalky:
* - Use a blender. 2 seconds max is all it takes to mix thoroughly.
* - Use more water. I use 8-10 ounces.
* - Remember that it's a protein supplement and not a strawberry milkshake.
* - Drink immediately after mixing. If it sits for any length of time thepowder starts to settle, then it does get a bit chalky.These apply to any supplements I drink, not just this one. I personally don't find a significant difference in taste in any of the top quality supplements. All I can say is that when you find something that works, you stick with it. After trying many supplements over the years, this is what I have stuck with.

(More customer reviews)After much research, several years ago I started using this muscle-gainer and have enjoyed it ever since. To me it is almost the perfect work-out / weight-lifting / energy / muscle-gaining drink. It has a great amount/ratio of carbs (85g ... only 5g in sugars), protein (60g .. several types), vitamins/minerals (usually only 20%-35% RDA ... some drinks put in 100% in many areas but I want to use a multi-vitamin, GNC Mega Men, instead), and taste (I have enjoyed my favorite banana, strawberry, and vanilla). It also has low sodium (15% RDA) and cholesterol (20% RDA) relative to many other drinks I saw, which are quite high in these areas ... beware. I don't drink it every day, just usually about half a serving before a workout and half after. That gives me enough carbs/energy to enjoy the workout and then protein after for good/reasonable muscle growth, all the while staying low in body-fat. It easily mixes with lowfat milk or soy milk, and tastes good with both. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

(More customer reviews)I am currently on a special diet that requires me to drink protein shakes for the bulk of my nutritional needs.Several colleagues recommended the Muscle Milk brand for its good flavor.However, my dietary needs prevented me from buying the regular Muscle Milk or even the Muscle Milk Light, because I must have high protein with very low carbs.I was delighted when I found that the Muscle Milk Protein Plus met the requirements.I bought the vanilla flavor because I already had chocolate in the Isopure brand.
Upon opening the container, I was greeted by a lovely blast of vanilla scent, which reminded me of cake frosting.I mixed one level scoop of powder into 8 ounces of water with a spoon.I ended up with a gloppy mess that would not completely mix, no matter how hard I stirred it.The blender was the next logical choice, and after a 30 second trip at high speed, I checked the consistency.It had a pretty major head of foam on it, but at least it looked to be completely mixed.
Now it was time to taste my creation, and I poured it into a clear glass and added a straw for effect.One sip told me all I needed to know.This stuff is NAS-TY!It tastes like watered-down melted sugar free ice cream with about 6 extra packets of nutrasweet.All I could do was thin it out with more water so the taste wouldn't be so overpowering.Bleh.
Maybe the regular Muscle Milk flavors are better, but I would steer clear of the Protein Plus vanilla.
